OUTLOOK CONTACT HISTORY

Here is a great tip for those of you who use Outlook as your email client. You can quickly, and effortlessly, find a full history of mail sent to and received from any outlook contacts.

To get a full mail history with an Outlook contact:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click Contacts.
  3. Locate the appropriate contact from your contacts list.
  4. Double click the contact.
  5. Select the Activities tab

The resulting window will display a history of all your communications with that particular contact.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS FOR EXCEL

If you want to quickly move from one worksheet to another using the keyboard, you can do so by using Ctrl+PgUp and Ctrl+PgDown. You use Ctrl+PgUp to move toward the first worksheet in the workbook, and Ctrl+PgDown to move toward the last. When you reach the first or last worksheet, Excel does not wrap to the opposite end of the workbook if you continue to press the same shortcut key.

MAKE YOUR OWN ICONS

You can make your own desktop icons in XP. Here’s how:

  1. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories
  2. Select Paint
  3. Click the Image menu and select Attributes
  4. In the Width and Height fields, enter 32 for each value
  5. Under “Units,” select Pixels
  6. In Paint, add color, text, drawings or whatever you like. You can shrink a photo to 32×32 pixels to use as an icon, too.
  7. When you’re finished, click File | Save As and give it a name with the extension .ico to identify it to Windows as an icon. You can change the icon for a folder or shortcut to use your custom icon.
