Speaking of social media, I walked an agent through getting on Facebook the other day and quite a few of his clients have already found him. He was floored.

Now for LinkedIn...

Outstanding article and so refreshing. Your stats are excellent and what they mean is very exciting. LinkedIn is fast becoming a tidal wave and I expect it to be even more so. It's a resource for business decisions for all consumers and I believe as you do that in the near future any realtor who is not on the network might have to explain why to potential clients.

Like you I don't use my Facebook account for direct business; it's just out there as a connection, but it does bring them to my business eventually. I'm also using eCademy and have connected with a very strong force of International business networkers.

Keep up the great work and best regards,

Outstanding article!

I agree that LinkedIn has become a phenominal site to meet new business associates. As Realtors, we really need to use it to benefit our referral business.

Thanks,

Great post!

I very much enjoyed your recent seminar on social networking in Long Beach. Sadly, too many real estate agents are not even all that comfortable with their computer, let alone networking on Facebook or LinkedIn. They face the fate of the dinosaur - presumable they are among the huge number of agents expected to retire by 2010.

Keep up the great work - I love your posts.

Hi Robert:
Thanks for your comments. I am definitely NOT doing ads of any kind on Facebook; that's not the way to use social networking. I'm simply connecting to friends, family, and friends-of-friends-family and being ME. Adding interesting links, photos from my cell phone, updating my status and generally just "being social." Since those people also might be in a position to use our services or refer me to someone who can, my goal is simply to remain "in their presence" so that, when the need arises, I'm "top of mind."

For more "direct" solicitation of business, especially to business customers, I used LinkedIn. I don't do "business-direct" on Facebook - that's not the culture - but I do more "here's what we can do, let me demonstrate it" by participating in groups and discussions on LinkedIn instead.

Hope that helps!

I was trying to see if you had a Facebook page or group but could not find one. I'm curious as to how you are driving traffic through Facebook. Are you using Facebook ads, pages, groups, profile or a combination of these?
